Puerto Vallarta Fishing FAQs

Q: What Personal items should I bring?
A: Your camera, waterproof sunscreen, a hat, shades and maybe some bottled water.

Q: Will I need a Mexican Fishing License?
A: Yes, but don't worry. You are covered in your charter trip.

Q: Will fishing tackle be made available?
A: Yes, our vessels are well supplied with top of the line Penn outfits and lots of tackle from trolling lures and jigs to all the hooks, lines and sinkers you will need to make the catch.

Q: Can I fish with my own tackle?
A: You sure can, and ours will still be available just in case you need some backup.

Q: Will I have to pay for the live bait?
A: We cover that as part of your charter. No extra charge for the bait.

Q: When is the best time for Marlin?
A: Our “Fish Calendar lays out the data on all trophy fish (Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna, etc…) so you can see the best months to reel them in.

Q: Can I choose the sport fish we fish for?
A: Yes, check out our fish calendar and see if they are available in the month you want to charter.

Q: Can I keep the fish I catch?
A: Sure you can. Any fish you do not want when we reach port will not be wasted. The crew will divide it up, or it will be given to charity.

Q: Can I go Fly-Fishing?
A: Yes, but bring your own fly rod and tackle, also let us know in advance so that we can best accommodate your needs.

Q: Will the crew clean my fish?
A: Yes they will, and they will filet and package your fish when you return to the dock. There is no additional charge for this service.

Q: Can I take my fish home?
A: Yep, sure can. It’s normally not a problem with the airlines or customs. Check with the airline for any security restrictions.

Q: Can I get my fish mounted?
A: Yes indeed. We can recommend a taxidermist that will do an excellent job and ship your trophy fish to your desired location.

Q: How much should I tip the crew?
A: Ten to twenty percent, depending on how pleased you are with their service.

Q: Does the crew speak English?
A: Si Señor. Our Captain and deck hand speak broken English but it is completely understandable.

Q: If I have a problem who do I address?
A: Ask Dan or Joan. We are here to assist in any way to make this the best experience on the water you have ever had.

Q: How do I pay for my fishing trip?
A: To secure your reservation a deposit of $100. can be made at the checkout link to PayPal. The balance will be accepted in cash (usd) at the dock when your party is welcomed and must be paid in full before boat departure from the dock.

Q: Do you guarantee that I will catch fish?
A: No one can guarantee that you will always catch fish, but it is rare to not come back with something. It wouldn't be called fishing if you caught something 100% of the time. We have experienced crews that consistently get results and catch fish.

Q: What happens if there are rough seas?
A: When the sea gets too rough, the port will close and no boats can go out. In the event this takes place, we can reschedule your trip or give you a refund on your deposit.
